Maverick Hunter Nexus

Maverick Hunter Nexus is a formerly Darvis Type, Dragoon Series reploid. The Dragoon Series of reploids has been notorious over the years for having a high Maverick Turnover Rate... a Flaw in the Series Micro-Processor Neuro-Net Brains.

Nexus himself stood out by not standing out. He had been in more or less the same old, generic, off the assembly line armour for decades and had kept alive by his quick wit and his ability to adapt to a situation. Unlike many Maverick Hunters whose abilities increase over time due to upgrades and downloaded combat skill, Nexus has set himself apart by doing things the old-fashioned, human way... by actually practicing and learning his skill for himself... something he claims gives better results than merely uploading the information.

Some would agree, some would not.

Nexus is not entirely without his own special quirks. His innate strength to poison has been claimed as the cause to him being seemingly Immune to any Maverick Viri. This is unlikely, but testing cannot confirm otherwise. He has not been confirmed to have ever been infected, so his immunity could not be verified completely until the outbreak of the Zero Virus in late 2163 [Loop4] (MWWX0072) when he was one of the only Maverick Hunters able to walk the Earth unaffected, with no special equipment.

Nexus' weapon of choice is a spear. It's design is usually of medium length, but of width and spear-head in direct copy of his tail. In this regard, Nexus has been said to dual-wield in the sense that he uses both his tail and his actual spear as a spear. Also, his spear is a mundane melee weapon, not a Plasma Spear. In his words: "Most everyone has shields on'em for Plasma Weapons... but you hit someone with a bat, they're gunna feel it."

His statement is mostly accurate. Being shielded from Energy or Plasma Weapons leaves little protection for old-style, physical damage weapons. In this regard, however, most physical damage weapons do little damage against modern armour. Consecutive hits are required for maximum damage, something Nexus accomplishes by repeated strikes, alternating his spear with his tail.

Nexus originally died in late 2163 just after the Zero Virus spread across the planet. He told his best friend and partner, Hunter Vileson, that he did not wish for revenge against Hel who delt the final blow. She punctured his chest with a physical damage weapon, nicking his power source, and causing it to leak out energy. "I should have taken my own advice," he said, regarding the attack. He had only recently upgraded his armour it's single time as the Epilogue to the story "One Long Night" to resist Plasma and Energy as opposed to Physical.


Crossover Split: During The Crossover, a Dimensional Counterpart of Nexus is discovered upon a return trip by a group of Maverick Hunters from the CTF (Crossover Task Force) who headed there on a research mission. A scientist (Dr. Stamper) who may have betrayed the CTF and those within it, and who had gone missing, had been originally from that dimension years before. In that universe, Nexus was saved by Hunter Vileson using a experimental transportation device, and made it back to the Earthsaver District 3 MHHQ Medical Bay in time to save his life.

Altercations with this universe's counterparts of Tyr and Hel caused the Space Colony Eurussia to crash into the planet Earth. Years before, the two had been modified into Bioroids by none other than Dr. Stamper. The collision of the Space Colony (at full thrusters), created devastation. Those who did not die on the planet were mutated, reploids and humans alike, into Bioroids not unlike Tyr and Hel. This was due to unknown variables likely caused by the Zero Virus, Sigma Virus, and the Virus on the Colony Eurussia all being combined and super-heated upon impact.

Nexus was one of those affected... being already a Dragoon Series (one of the only remaining), his transformation was rather quick. Others of reploids and humans were not so lucky. Some died in the mutation.

The devastation of the planet Earth was immeasurable.

Nexus and a small band of survivors were shipped off world by CTF in a large armored carrier. Nexus was known then as the only living survivor of the Space Colony Eurussia, and the man who both failed to stop the crash, and the man who prevented the complete destruction of the planet... though it may be years before any live on it. The two other Space Colonies, and Moonbase Luna, still survive.

Nexus' future has yet to be written.
