Why US? Haven't Been This Screwed in Two Weeks.

Ladies and Gentlemen... some knowledge:

Global Warming is real. Don't believe it? ...Then pay attention in class or go back to school, you freaking moron. I get really serious about this shit, and it's not going to stop. You best pay attention to the Earth or it wont be here anymore. Forget your fucking grand-kids or your children, I'm talking your lifetime, and my own.

You want to hear me talk about an issue that's current and that I feel strongly about? Well, here you are. I don't want the world to die... and by similar meaning, I don't want us all to end up dead too just because a select few in this world need to make some extra cash.

Let's speak of the current and immediate danger, hm? There's yet another Category 5 Hurricane out there folks, and this wench hasn't even hit the Gulf of Mexico yet. Wilma's her name, and she's already a force to be reckoned with. How much of a force? Let's review:

Now, I don't know a whole lot about weather systems and all that (and I'll freely admit if I've made mistakes in my following judgements), but I know enough to be fearful. Firstly, warm water/aether breeds these demons, and the Gulf's full of it. It happens to get warm this time of year. And, Thirdly, the smaller the mb (That's millibars) of a Hurricane is it's pressure. The less pressure, the more damage. Most hurricanes hit around 1000-900. The lower the number, the more devastating the overall hurricane.

Rita, and Katrina before her (Or, "September" as I call them, collectively) both hit the list of the top five of the most dangerous hurricanes in recorded history. They were both Category 5 bitches, and they fucked us up something hard. Rita, I believe, made it down to 894mb... and that's some pretty bad shit, right there. Luckily, it didn't hit land with that kind of force, but you get the idea.

Another important factor, I believe, is how wide the eye of the storm is. The smaller the eye of the storm, the quicker the sucker spins. Katrina's eye was a fairly small 80-90 miles, I'm pretty sure... and she hit New Orleans like we're all never going to forget.

Needless to say, Category 5 Hurricanes are the big ones, the bad ones, and we should all know by now (after one month's time) how true that can be.

But, Huntermun, how's Wilma doing? Surely she can't be as bad... Woe are US...

Wilma's down around 884mb right now... Lowest mb ever. Do you follow? Ever! There has never before been a hurricane with this much destructive potential before. Oh, but you know what else? It's eye is down around 2 fucking miles wide! Two miles! Can you even image? I can, but I wish I didn't have to... because she's real, and she's on her way.

I'm lucky (I think) that I don't live on the coast... but with a storm that big, shit... I remember when little ol' Hugo hit the coast. When it's eye made landfall, we were feeling the rain in the upstate. Right now, Wilma's probably going to hit Florida... but Hugo (or Andrew, or both, I forget) went across Florida and then came back at the East Coast... so who's to say who is safe and who isn't.

So, these are some natural disasters that are pretty bad, right? We're just having a bad year, right? Wrong.

Humans don't make hurricanes, but we can sure make them bigger and stronger. We aren't even creating Global Warming anymore or "Climitia" as Bill Marr named it (to make it sound more like the bad thing it is), it's already here. It's upon us. We're in it. We're just making it worse and worse.

God damnit, get outraged, seriously. If you listen to that bullshit about how no one can really accomplish anything or make a difference... shit. Look at the world. Global Warming was, effectively, created by very few people. People in the oil business... the people who sell us the gas for our cars... Yes, every person on the planet contributed... but the average person is stupid... or, rather, the average group of people is.

A person is smart. People are stupid... panicky... easy to spook, and easier still to control. If this wasn't true, there wouldn't be people buying X-Box's

We have the capacity to drive non-gasoline cars, people... and I'm not even talking the Honda Incite, or all those bullshit American hybrids. I'm talking about running cars off of soy beans or whatever... the tech is here, but you don't hear about it. It's not Sci-Fi... hell, I'll probably get me one of those cars, or get an engine put into mine the first chance I get. They aren't even expensive...

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. We all need to stop being part of the damn problem. We can fix this. We can make a difference.

There's more I could say, but I think you get the idea. The world is fucked up. It's not OK, and it's not "going" to happen. It has happened. It is happening. It's up to us to, individually, do something about it. Buy Hybrid cars, write you Congress-person, get these stupid plans of revoking the Clean Air Act brought to the public eye so that we can chastise the stupid fucks who thought it up in the first place. Allowing us to use dirtier fuels is not the answer...

...in fact, charging $6 a Gallon is almost an answer in and of itself. If it force the government, and even you and I to think more about alternative fuels, then that'd be a good thing, really. Then you wouldn't even have to worry about gas prices. Instead, we've got Bush resending the Clean Air Act just so there's more gas to go around to keep prices under $3. The government (well, Republicans), don't care about you or I. Hell, they don't even care about their own health or their families...

We made a war. You can agree or disagree over whether it was a good idea or not... but don't say it wasn't about oil... One way or the other, it was. We should be over there helping them make a good government, and instead we're just, you know... sitting on our asses, making good with the trading and all. We could be helping people... that's why I actually thought it was a good idea to start. My thinking was "alright, cool... hope we do something with this and it's not just the son trying to finish what the father started" and, right now, all I see is... nothing.

Nine-Eleven was a huge tragedy, don't get me wrong. Each one of those buildings was it's own fucking Zip Code, people. That's how big a hit it was. I do think we should get the bastards that caused it, and I do think Iraq and all those other countries in the Middle East share a lot of blame... but, shit... couldn't we help those people while we're at it... ...the good ones... the ones that have to live there.

Rah, but whatever. Wilma's out there, and I really hope those of you in her way are prepared to get the fuck out of your homes and go someplace safe. She's already got winds up around 175 Miles and hour... faster than Rite or Katrina before her.

Oh, and one other tidbit about Hurricanes (and Tropical Storms). We name them, in order of the Alphabet. We start male, or female (I think, the opposite of the year before), and we go from A to W, skipping names of U and Q. After that, we start with the Greek Alphabet at Alpha and work our way upward...

We have never had a Hurricane Alpha!

Let's review the list, shall we? This year's names are... I'm sorry... were: Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Dennis, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, Katrina, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Philippe, Rita, Stan, Tammy, Vince, and Wilma...

You catch that? Wilma? As in, it starts with a fucking W, Wilma.

This is the worst Hurricane season we've ever had and, even if Wilma's the last one this year, next year's sure to be bigger and badder... and if she isn't, then we'll have Alpha.

We've got to do something about this... as people, as states, as a nation, as a world leader. We've got to do something about this, or none of this will be left.

Every 500 Hits is a New Winner!
Every 500 Hits, you've got the opportunity to get a free picture out of me. It can be a picture of anything [within reason]. What you do is take a Screen Shot and put it in your Scraps. You send me a link in a Note, and what you'd like as a pic, and I'll hook you up. In addition to this rule is an add-on... someone might not realize that they're a 500 Hit... if this is the case, then you can still do the Scraps » Note for, say, 3,001 if you want. Just realize that if 3,000 sends me a note a bit later, they "Out Bid" you... but since I want people to win, I've made this new rule. This goes out to anyone +50 of my 500 Hit. Past 3,050, no one can win for 3,000... get it? Good. n\_/n

I wish you luck as it seems to be hitting Florida as I write this Post.

On a side note, Tropical Storm Alpha is around as well... making a record breaking 22 named Tropical storms in a single Hurrican Season from the Atlantic, ever. After Alpha is Beta...

Also, I just learned that if a Hurrican ever does massive damage to everyone and everything... they retire the name.
